Everything Thailo does

Built around one promise: land in Thailand able to actually talk. Everything below works offline except speaking practice and AI grading, which need a connection.

The journey

Ten destinations, in the order your trip needs them

The home screen is a route through Thailand. Arrival teaches airport and greeting Thai; Night Market Eats gets you fed; Getting Around covers taxis, tuk-tuks and the BTS; Money & Market handles numbers and haggling. 4,105 words across 36 categories, every one validated against a real Thai dictionary.

The phrasebook

A phrasebook organized by what's happening around you

460 phrases in 17 situational packs: first arrival, ordering, bargaining, spice and allergies, the pharmacy, temple etiquette. Each with Thai script, honest romanization and formality guidance. Where it matters, you also get the reply you're likely to hear back. Searchable and instant, for the moment you need it mid-trip.

AI practice

Say it, and find out if a local would get you

Two rounds. A guided read-aloud after every lesson and in any phrasebook pack: the phrase stays in front of you and you say it out loud. Then, once you have learned a pack's words, Test Yourself hides the phrase and asks you to produce it cold. Speak it or type it, and the AI grades whether a Thai speaker would have understood you, showing a more natural way when there is one. Single-shot graded practice, not an open chatbot.

Thailo on iPhone: the grammar guide: Thai sentence structure explained in plain English

The guide

The grammar, explained: for when you want the why

Not sure why Thai puts the adjective after the noun, or how a question gets built? The grammar guide explains how the language actually works (sentence structure, negation, questions, tense, classifiers, particles, pronouns, politeness) in plain English with real examples. It reads like a short textbook, and it's one tap away from your lessons, the phrasebook and the review screen whenever a pattern trips you up.

Live Challenges

Real-world missions that end in Thailand, not in the app

Finish a destination and its Live Challenge unlocks: go order at a real stall, ask a real question, haggle for a real price, with a phrase toolkit in hand. Mark it done yourself and stamp your passport. Practice that ends in Thailand, not on a screen.

Progress

A passport that fills as Thailand opens up

Streaks, destination stamps, spaced-repetition review that resurfaces words right before you'd forget them, and a passport screen that doubles as your trip diary.

Review

Everything you've learned, in one place

One home for the words already behind you: read them all back with audio, flip through a quick Practice over a random mix, and let spaced review resurface the ones you're about to forget, exactly when they're due. Always a tap away, right next to Continue.

Thailo on iPhone: the alphabet track, glyph lessons done and locked

The script

Read menus and signs, if you want to

Two tracks, chosen at onboarding. Speak-first keeps everything in romanization. Read-too teaches the 44 consonants, vowels and five tones glyph by glyph, with audio at full and turtle speed.

Make it yours

Repaint the sky, and study day or night

Coins you earn from lessons unlock sky themes that repaint the background behind every screen: sunrise apricot, jade morning, Andaman blue. Two of them are midnight skies that flip the whole app into a warm, cream-on-dark night mode: bright enough to read on the plane, easy enough on the eyes to study in bed. Personalization that's earned, not another paywall.
